How The Internet Has Become An Indispensable Part Our Lives

While I was growing up, from what I remember, the Internet was seen as another source of information. We were still very much dependent on our conventional sources of data and information i.e. books. With the passage of time however, the internet has revolutionised the world and how it functions. The impact of the internet on our daily lives is palpable. We have understood the power that the internet has. Businesses and organizations have begun to leverage it to a greater extent to increase their productivity. Now, we live in a time wherein the internet is an indispensable part of our lives.

We can find every piece of information that we require and much more on the Internet. Yahoo was pretty prominent in the 1990s but slowly Google took over and has never looked behind. These search engines exemplify the use of Business Analytics and Data Science. The search engines process metadata i.e. large volumes of data and present it to the audience. Nearly every house in the urban cities has an internet connection and a device through which people can access the internet. In the earlier days, the internet was provided to homes through a dial-up connection via the telephone lines. Nowadays, we have optical fibre cables that are connected to a modem that is in turn connected to a Wi-Fi router. The Wi-Fi router propagates the network signals to all devices that can connect to it within its pre-specified range.

People usually place the Wi-Fi router in their homes such that the network signals reach all parts of the house within the radius of the router. It is usually advisable to place the router in the middle of the house; this becomes pretty inconvenient though. Technical support teams that deploy these connections find it difficult to bring the fibre cables right to the middle of a house. They prefer to connect the modems to the cables near the windows. This reduces the hassle for them. However, people realise later that a lot of the Wi-Fi routers range is being wasted. The signals do not reach all the rooms and they weaken with the increase in the distance from the router. Initially, the wrong notion sets in that the router is not powerful enough. This is usually not the case. People need to ensure that the router is placed at an optimal location in their homes.

Once the internet connection and the Wi-Fi router are set up, we are good to go. We can start using the web on our smart devices. If you have never accessed the internet through a Wi-Fi connection then you can learn how to access your Wi-Fi router by reading the instructions on the back of Wi-Fi router’s package box. There a few easy steps that need to be followed and the router will have a name mentioned through which it can be accessed.
