Living in a city like Mumbai where pollution is going to be your worst enemy, you are bound to fall ill. At least those people who are sensitive. So, I have been living in Mumbai for about 6 years and to be honest, I don’t like it here. My kind of workplace could be somewhere in a cool, hill station, and less polluted area, maybe like Dehradun. Anyway, I should stop dreaming about that. The pollution really affected my health and ended up with constant dry cough for months.
There have been some embarrassing moments where I coughed non-stop during an important presentation in front of the board of directors, I slept next to my sister’s new-born and woke her up with my cough attack! So I have faced incidents where I had to literally cover my mouth and wished I did not have to go through it. Finally, I decided to visit my family doctor and get myself treated. He chatted with me about my lifestyle and told me to avoid a few things and prescribed some antibiotics. Oh god, I just hate taking medicines. There are always so many side effects involved. Don’t you agree?
My medications went on for 10 days along with a proper diet. But, nothing seemed to work. I found absolutely no improvement in my cough and hence decided to re-visit the doctor to inform him about my health. He prescribed medication for 30 days this time with lots of supplements, drug testing kits to check if smoke or any kind of nicotine is affecting my lungs, medical tests like chest x-ray and blood test. I was tired of taking so many tablets because it causes acidity, loss of appetite and makes me feel lethargic all day. When you have so much of workload, you can’t afford to feel lazy! I decided to skip all the medications but chose to just get my medical tests done to find out what seemed to be the cause of my severe dry cough. When I got my results, it mentioned how my cough was an allergic one. There was something that didn’t suit me so I had to get an allergy test done in order to find out what was actually the problem. After many tests and clinic visits, I finally got a list of things that I had to avoid and as per my mother’s recommendations, I started with an Ayurvedic treatment from a well-known doctor. Within 10 days I started to see great improvements and was finally relieved that this treatment was working out well. Goodbye dry cough, please don’t come again.
